AGEING

Trans-resveratrol

Trans-resveratrol is a powerful inducer of the SIRT1 pathway - vital for DNA repair and the maintaining the ‘youthfulness’ of dermal fibroblast. Youthful and functional dermal fibroblasts are capable of producing adequate levels of collagen and elastin, unlike aged and dysfunctional dermal fibroblasts which produce less collagen.

Trans-resveratrol also has anti-inflammatory properties, it can provide relief for chronic inflammation which can be associated with ageing skin, reducing the potential for long-term damage to the skin. Its capacity to activate cellular sirtuins and promote cellular longevity and DNA repair means that trans-resveratrol offers one of the true full potentials to delay the onset of age-related changes to the skin’s appearance and cellular structure. Our stabilised cyclodextrin-complexed trans-resveratrol is the flagship product of Re-Dox Skin Lab. Learn more.

Glutathione

Glutathione is a naturally occurring compound found in various living organisms, including plants and humans. It is a tripeptide which can also be derived from certain foods or natural substances for use in skincare products, as it neutralises free radicals and protects the skin from oxidative stress caused by UV radiation, environmental pollutants, and premature ageing. It has also been found to possess skin-lightening effects, resulting in a
brighter, more even skin tone.

During the ageing process, glutathione levels decrease in the skin and skin cells become more vulnerable to oxidative and free radical stressors. Applying glutathione can help replenish this loss due to ageing, reducing damage caused by oxidants like reactive oxygen species (ROS - known to contribute to environmental stress). It also regenerates important antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E.
